The Universidad de Oviedo is a public higher education and research institution in the Principality of Asturias. With over 400 years of history, it offers a full range of degrees, bachelor's and master's, adapted to the European Education Area. The Universidad de Oviedo welcomes students to its Departamento de Historia. 

The Grupo de investigación Historia Sociocultural GRUHSOC and the teaching staff of the Master en Historia y Análisis Sociocultural run a number of projects on industrial history and industrial policies in sectors such as mining, food and drink, and the railways. These areas of research are developed in conjunction with the industrial archaeology association INCUNA-Industria Cultura Naturaleza. One of their aims is to study, protect and enhance Asturias' immense steelmaking and landscape heritage.
