University of Oviedo


The University of Oviedo is a public institution for higher education and a research center for the Principality of Asturias. With more than 400 years of history, the University of Oviedo offers a comprehensive selection of diplomas, licenses and masters, adapted to the standards of a European educationin all branches of knowledge with national and international universities and more than 250 companies. It conducts research and development, including and notably, innovation activities in Asturias having state-of-the-art services and facilities to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to the professional world. With a major international projection closely linked to an industrial environment, the University is among the first nine Spanish universities to have obtained Campus International Excellence accreditation (beginning in November 2009).

The Historia Socio-Cultural Research Group GRUHSOC and their professors have led projects concerning industrial history and industrial policies in sectors such as mining, food and beverages, or railways. Among other things, heritage can be mentioned: the "Trabajo industrial: identidades, memoria and patrimonio" project financed by the University of Oviedo in 2013; the project "Recopilación de material científico para candidateura para la cultura sidrera sea declarada Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad para la UNESCO" in 2013 and "Documentación de la solicitud ante la UNESCO de la nomión de la cultura sidrera para sera declarada Patrimonio Inmaterial de la UNESCO Humanidad" in 2014, funded by Asturias and the Ministry of Livestock and Regional Natural Resources. They also participated in international projects such as "ENGIHR-European Network for Gastrointestinal Health Research" funded by the European Science Foundation from 2010 to 2014; "150 aniversario de la llegada del ferrocarril a La Rioja" financed by the Instituto de Estudios Riojanos in 2012"; "Crisis and social cambios: impactos en el proceso de modernización en la España del siglo XX, 1898-2008" financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness under the National Program for Research, Development and Innovation from 2015 to 2017.
