The Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne is one of France's oldest and largest universities. It coordinates the entire programme and welcomes students for the first semester of the first year at the Ecole d'Histoire de la Sorbonne.

Within this department, the history of technology offers three parallel courses:
- The History of Science, History of Technology research master's degree.
- The Cultural and Technical Heritage professional master's degree.
- The Techniques, Heritage, Territories of Industry international Erasmus Mundus master's degree.

These courses enable students to engage in fruitful exchanges in a single location, the Centre Malher, in the heart of the capital.

Main theme of the master's degree: The "History of Technology" speciality offers a contextual study of technical practices and knowledge (17th-20th centuries). The techniques studied cover a vast field ranging from scientific and industrial techniques to artistic, craft and ordinary techniques. The course is broadly open to the disciplinary fields that have contributed to the history of techniques: anthropology, archaeology, art history, sociology, restoration and conservation.
