The Universidade de Évora welcomes students for the first semester of the second year at the Instituto de Investigação e formação avançada (IFA).

In this Institute, Erasmus Mundus Masters and Doutoramento programmes are attended by 926 students (78 students enrolled in international Masters programmes and 848 doctoral students). The heritage theme links five parallel programmes:
- The Archaeological Materials Science (ARCHMAT) international master's programme;
- The international Erasmus Mundus Masters in Techniques, Heritage and Territories of Industry;
- The HERITAS - Estudos de Património doctorate;
- The História doctorate and the História da Arte doctorate, one of whose specialities is Cultural Heritage;
- The doctorates in Artes e Técnicas da Paisagem and Gestão Interdisciplinar da Paisagem focus on territory and landscapes, which are also training areas for the Erasmus mundus TPTI master's degree.

Main theme of the master's degree: The "Landscapes, Heritage and Social Practices" speciality is based on a multidisciplinary approach. It aims to link landscape studies with those dealing with technology and the environment. The central themes of work concern the landscapes of technical innovation; heritage ecosystems; intangible technical heritage; museological heritage; and images as sources of technical heritage.
